PORTUGAL - Lagoons of Azores / Biodiversity

"There are recesses of the being and of life that call for silence." These words, said by Miguel Torga, also apply, quite fittingly in fact, to the Atlantic islands of the Azores. Each islan is a live exhibition of an immense variety of the charms of nature. Sea, moutains, lagoons, streams, fauna and varied flora, all of them presented in a wisely balanced and concentrated splendour that can only be truly appreciated if gazed upon, so as to be able hear the "silence echo" of the wonders Nature has bestowed on these encchanted islands.
